A/C & Heating

Your vehicle’s AC and heating system is actually much more complicated than it may seem. It’s broken up into two parts (the high and low sides). The high side includes the compressor, which pumps refrigerant throughout the climate control system. The low side includes an expansion valve, which restricts refrigerant flow and lowers the temperature of the refrigerant. If either of these processes is functioning incorrectly or isn’t functioning at all, the air flowing through the system will be unable to be heated or cooled properly. Your car’s climate control system is one of its most important aspects. Being too hot or too cold while driving long distances can not only pose a health risk to you can your passengers, it can also impair your ability to drive to the best of your ability, putting other drivers at risk as well.

Wear

Over time your car’s air conditioner will lose refrigerant (roughly 1-2 ounces per year). The amount of refrigerant that is lost depends on how often you’re using your air conditioning as well as the size of your vehicle (an SUV will take roughly 40 ounces of refrigerant in its air conditioner, while a compact model car may only take 10 ounces). To be sure how many ounces of refrigerant your car can hold, refer to your owner’s manual. While you’re losing refrigerant, dust and debris are also clogging up your air filter, resulting in a decrease in efficiency. It’s important to have your cabin air filter checked regularly to ensure you’re receiving the most service from your air conditioning system.

Before you find yourself sweating on the way to work or freezing on a snowy day, contact our Maple Grove AC and heating service to have your system evaluated and or replaced

Maintenance

If you find that your air conditioner is not working to its full potential, there could be one or many reasons for it. Your system could have little to no refrigerant, a bad compressor or condenser, a leak, a bad fan, or a loose or worn belt. Many people run to the store and buy a recharge kit in hopes that this will be a quick fix to their problem, only to find that it has no affect. The only real way to be sure of what’s causing the problem is to bring your car into a Maple Grove AC and heating service for an inspection. Our team will find any and all problems and ensure that your air conditioner is up and running again in no time. We work quickly, efficiently, and at a competitive price.
